Speakers and Lectures:

Dennis Gunderson, Keynote Speaker:
"Courtship and Dating - So What's the Difference?"

Families hear much about "courtship" these days, but often lack clear ideas of where the differences lie between a "dating" approach and the "courtship" concept. We want to spare our children the pitfalls of the modern "dating" tradition, but often don't know how to explain to them how "courtship" works! This address gives 6 easily-understood differences between the two approaches, to help any family apply the old approach in a modern era, but without arbitrary, Pharisaical rules. Dennis gives parents principles they can apply, in varied household situations.

Dennis Gundersen, Grace and Truth Books:
"Go for the Goal! Shepherding our Children with Eternal Aims"
What are you aiming for? This motivating message is based on the Apostle Paul's summary of why he taught - 1Timothy 1:5: "The goal of our instruction is, love from a pure heart, and a good conscience, and a sincere faith" - perfect goals for godly parents! Dennis designs in this message to train and equip parents to raise up children whose lives overflow with love, from inner personal purity; guided by the moral discretion of a good conscience; and built on a sincere faith.

Kelly Lutman, Sonlight Curriculum:
"Escape from Textbooks Using Literature-Based Learning"

Tired of boring textbooks? Do you want your children to have the Love of learning and remember what they learn...for a lifetime? Sonlight Curriculum provides engaging literature which you will enjoy as much as your children, with lesson plans provided, and the flexibility to use one program for multiple children.

Sue Becker, The Bread Beckers:
"Do Not Eat the Bread of Idleness"
We all diligently seek the Lord's help to train our children in the way they should go. It is our belief that in these last days, God is raising up a mighty army, a Godly generation for service in His purpose. But the question we must ask ourselves is this: How can this generation effectively serve our Lord Jesus wholeheartedly, as did Caleb, if they are sick, drug dependent, or dying from the common diseases which plague the United States? Sue has a degree in Food Service from the University of Georgia and will present basic nutritional information on how to greatly reduce the risk of these common diseases by focusing on the importance of returning to God's perfect provision for our food and health with references from the books of Matthew, Exodus, Proverbs, Isaiah, and Psalms.

Ron McCurdy, FPEA District 1 Representative:
"How to Home Educate and Maintain a Healthy Marriage"
Maintaining a healthy marriage while home schooling can be quite a challenge. Sometimes we go through differences of opinion between spouses on how to home school, what to teach or how long we should teach. The spouse that does not regularly teach the home school materials can get caught outside the home schooling loop without basic communication. Applying this godly information will help keep your marriage in check as well as bringing you closer together as a family unit.

TeenPact offers a program for both teens and children during your state's legislative session. Students have devotion, a time of praise and worship, meet important officials, interview lobbyists, view campaign disclosures, improve their public speaking skills, write their own bills, and conduct their own TeenPact legislature. Students analyze public policy from a Biblical Worldview and learn to "take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:5). Come and learn about the leadership, life, future job/career and friendship opportunities that are available through TeenPact.

Mrs. Cheri Hedden, Independent Consultant for Special Needs and Learning Difficulties in Home Educated Students:

    "Spelling Vs. Studied Dictation"

If Spelling has been a difficult subject for your student, come and learn a method to teach Spelling, which will work! Your student will learn to spell using the easiest and most natural format, and this will only take minutes a day. NO cramming, and NO more spelling tests to plague you life! Your Spelling will NEVER be the same!! Studied Dictation is little known Charlotte Mason technique, but one of the most valuable in regards to increasing the student's spelling proficiency, This class compares traditional spelling approaches to Studied Dictation; and demonstrates, the inferiority of popular spelling methods. Participation in an actual Studied Dictation lesson will prepare the participant to teach Studied Dictation, instead of relying on spelling texts or programs.
